She suffered a stroke and never regained consciousness. She departed from her loved ones at 8:40 P. M., Saturday, June 20, 1959 at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 20 days. On May 13, 1916, she was united in marriage to William Skillin. The first few years of their life was spent around this vicinity, and to them was born three daughters; Margaret, Edith and Evelyn. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1941, then later moved to Salina, Kansas in 1945, where she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, January 10, 1954. Mrs. Skillin was a member of the Methodist Church. Her death was a great shock to her loved ones and many friends. She leaves to mourn three daughters and six grandsons. Mr. and Mrs. Lamoine Paden and Francis Paul of Wilsonville, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Rumsey, Dwayne and Gary of Wichita, Kansas; and Mr. and Mrs. Homer McDonald, Ronnie, Billie and Cleo of Salina, Kansas. Other relatives besides her immediate family are 5 sisters and 1 brother; Mrs. Pearl Pittman, Mrs. Glennice O'Keefe and Mrs. Clara Brown, all of Hastings, Nebraska. Mrs. Ruby Porter, Bellingham, Washington, Mrs. Nellie Pauley, Grand View, Washington; Mr. Earl Scovill, North Platte, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 23rd., at two o'clock. The Rev. Theodore Rudisill conducted the services. Interment was in the Frankfort Cemetery. The pall bearers were Flody Hiner, George Criner, Ralph L. Adkins, Monroe Coleman, Steve Chance and Walter Schlegel. Singers were Mrs. Dean Potter and Mrs. Rex Bronaugh, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn Forgy. Songs sung at the services were: "Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer My God To Thee." "AWAY" I cannot say and I will not say That she is dead. She is just away. With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand She has wandered into an unknown land. And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since she lingers there. So think of her faring on, as dear In the love of THere as the love of here. Think of her still as the same | |
