Text | Mrs. Grace A. Skillin, 59, a resident of Salina, died at the Norton County Hospital at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, June 20. Mrs. Skillin had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Lomoin Paden of northwest of Norton, for about two months. She became ill Thursday and was taken to the hospital Friday morning. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist Church in Frankfort. Burial will be at Frankfort. The Scott-Brantley funeral directors are in charge of arrangements. Grace Agness Scovill was born at Strong City March 31, 1900, a daughter of George and Martha (Cass) Scovill. She was raised at Frankfort and it was there that she married Billie Skillin. The Skillins lived at Frankfort until moving to Hastings, Nebr., in 1941. They moved to Salina in 1945. Mr Skillins died in 1954. Mrs. Skillins was a member of the Methodist Church. She raised three children, all of whom survive their parents. They are Mrs. Margaret Paden of Wilsonville, Mrs. Edith Rumsey of Wichita and Mrs. Evelyn McDonald of Salina. Also surviving are six grandchildren, five sisters and one brother. The brother and sisters are Earl Scovill of North Platte, Nebr., Mrs. Pearl Pitman, Mrs. Glennice O'Keefe and Mrs. Clara Brown of Hastings, Mrs. Ruby Porter of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Nellie Pauley of Washington. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, two sisters and one brother. The children all were here with their mother during her last illness. | |
