Text | Ruth Padgett, 70, Blue Rapids, died Oct. 10, 1987, at the Community Memorial Hospital. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Perry Funeral Home, Blue Rapids, the Rev. Emerson Gillett officiating. Pianist was LuRee Gallup. Vocalist Cassie Mather sang "My Task" and "Prayer Perfect." Pallbearers were Billy Skillin, Jim Heidebrecht, Chuck Parnell, Larry Adkins, Arnold Adkins and Bob Skillin. Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Blue Rapids, with arrangements by Perry Funeral Home. Ruth Skillin was born Oct. 1, 1917, at Frankfort, the oldest of five children of Robert and Alva Scovill Skillin. As a child she moved with her parents to a farm south of Irving where she attended Irving schools. She married Foster Padgett May 18, 1936. They made their home in Blue Rapids, where he was employed by the railroad. They were parents of one son, Harold. Her husband died Oct. 22, 1972, and she moved to California to be near her son and his family while he served in the military services. After his discharge the family moved back to Blue Rapids, and she lived with her son and family until illness brought a move to the Blue Valley Nursing Home. Preceding her in death were her husband and her parents, one sister, Martha, and two brothers, William and Harold Skillin. Survivors are her son, Harold Padgett, Blue Rapids; three grandchildren, Stephen, Debra and Robert Padgett, and one sister, Esther Adkins, Blue Rapids. | |
