| Text | Proposed Change: Louisa Jane Otis (I2479) Tree: Rumsey/Ballou Family Tree Link: http://www.rumseyfamily.com//getperson.php?personID=I2479&tree=rums01 Description: Hello there, Louisa Jane Otis died 12 Aug 1846 and not 20 Aug 1829... Perhaps it was her twin sister Lydia Jane that died on 20 Aug 1829 and William A Otis mistaking put the date of death on the wrong twin (page 442 of the book that he published in 1924)... Louisa Jane is buried in the same cemetery that her father and mother, Ezekial and Mary are buried in... Broad Run Cemetery in Tuscarawas County, Ohio... The cemetery is just outside of the same town of Winfield... It use to be part of Wayne Township but I believe it is now in Franklin Township, Tuscarawas County... Louisa Jane is indexed on the same page (page 149) of the Tuscarawas Cemetery Inscription book with a date of death of 12 Aug 1846 and an "aged" date of 17 years 1 month and 14 days that her father and mother are indexed in... The "aged" date co-insides directly with the date of birth by the trusty old date calculator... I can absolutely verify the dates in the cemetery inscription book with the photos that I took of Louisa Jane's headstone in Broad Run Cemetery... I would like to send you her head stone photo to add to your site... I also have a photo of Ezekial's War of 1812 grave site plaque and Mary's side of their original grave stone (I believe Ezekial is on the opposite side but I didn't photograph it, I was there searching for others and not the Otis family)... I became interested in the Otis family and found your site when I discovered that a few members of my family that I am researching married into the Otis family... If I can assume correctly from the surname of your site, you are descendent through Sarah Ann Otis daughter of Merrill and Tamer Myers... One of my cousins, Mary Elizabeth Raichart married Sarah's brother George W Otis... And Mary Elizabeth's sister Ruby Grace Raichart married Irvin Ellsworth Otis, son of Edward... Your site is very informative and helped me piece together some of my distant Otis cousin's... Bill | |
