  Notes	In 1861, George enlisted in the 2nd Minnesota Cavalry and served in defense of New Ulm, Minnesota against the Indians. He re-enlisted in 4th Minnesota Cavalry as a 2nd Lieutenant and returned home at the close of the war as 1st Lieutenant. [1]
