- Obituaries - Fannie Littlechild
Fannie Littlechild was born September 17, 1896, on the family farm north of Collyer in Trego County, Kansas, to John and Barbara (Hladek) Razak. She passed away in the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital at WaKeeney, Kansas, on April 15, 1999, at the age of 102 years, 6 months, 28 days.
She attended school at Collyer. On May 27, 1914, Fannie was united in marriage with John Joseph Littlechild at WaKeeney. Together they farmed and raised their family, moving to WaKeeney in 1955. John passed away January 12, 1986.
Fannie was a member of the Trego County Extension Homemaker Unit for over 20 years. She was also an honorable member of the Centenarians Society of Topeka.
Fannie was a hard worker and enjoyed her life and her family. She crocheted, quilted, and embroidered for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Fannie never missed an opportunity to play bingo. She was well liked and admired for being so active in spite of her age.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Littlechild and wife, Esther, of Hays, and Kenneth Littlechild, WaKeeney; four daughters, Evelye Tegtmeyer, Mary Overland and husband, LeRoy, and Glady Jones, all of WaKeeney, and Betty Elder and husband, Jack, of Milwaukie, Oregon; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sons, Walter, Myron, Robert, and Dale Littlechild; two daughters, Grace Kysar and Barbara Brown; a grandson, Stephen Littlechild; and a great-grandson, David Allen Tinkler; four brothers, Vince, Joseph, Charles and William Razak; five sisters, Mary Krhut, Rosa Krhut, Anna Hickman, Millie Matousek and Helen LaCerte.
Funeral services were Monday, April 19, 1999, in the Presbyterian Church, WaKeeney, with the Rev. Marilyn Gamm officiating. Burial was in the WaKeeney City Cemetery. The Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, was in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the WaKeeney Senior Center which may be left in care of the funeral home.
