- M. Eileen Razak, 76, of Hillcrest Village #6 in Pittsburg, died April 6, 1998 at 3:10 a.m. at the Mount Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg, KS of a sudden illness.
She was born July 30, 1921 in Alton, KS to Jay T. and Jennie Paynter Carswell. She attended Alton elementary and high schools and Kansas State University, where she earned her bachelors degree in Home Economics.
She married Virgil Razak on June 29, 1943 in Alton. The couple moved to Wichita, where they reared their family and made their home for 30 years. In Wichita, she was a foundling member of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church; a member of the Women's christian Fellowship and a 4-H leader. In 1970, the Razaks moved to Holton, KS, where they ran the A&W Drive-In for 13 years. They moved to the Pittsburg community 15 years ago.
Mrs. Razak was an avid golfer, a game she came to late in life, but attacked with the same energy and enthusiasm she brought to all her endeavors. She was a bridge player and a skilled quilter who loved to bestow her intricately stitched masterpieces on fortunate friends and relatives. Most of all, she was a loving wife and mother who was a bedrock foundation for a devoted family.
Survivors include her husband; 3 sons, Bo Razak of Potomac, MD, Alan razak of Philadelphia, PA, and Virgil Razak, Jr. of Holton; 1 daughter, Diane E. Rumsey of Oklahoma City; 3 brothers, Harold Carswell of Osborne, KS, Derly Carswell of Alton, Gayle Carswell of Ellsworth, KS; and 9 grandchildren.
